-Chemical odor, such as cat urine or nail polish remover
SIGNS OF CHILD ABUSE FROM METH
Willcox's local CPS reports that 90% of homes, that they remove children from, is secondary to meth use.
-May appear dirty or uncared for
-May have a chemical odor, such as cat urine or nail polish remover
-May have signs of meth toxicity, i.e. - tachycardia, aggitation, anxiety
-Weight loss
-Depression
-Ask, "Who cares for you?" Many times it is an older sibling or themself
Between April of 2005 to September of 2005 there were 18,797 calls to the Child Abuse Hotline; 507 of those calls were investigated in Cochise County.  Cochise County has the largest meth related child abuse investigations, per capita, compared to Pima and Maricopa counties.
From April - Sept of 2001, there were 6121 children in foster care compared to 9906 children, during this same time period, in 2005.  This correlates to a 40% rise in foster care need in Cochise County.

Nation-wide there is also an increase need for foster care but not enough availablity.
